a debt that can never be repaid...

"A New England soldier wrote to his wife on the eve of the First Battle of Bull Run:  'I know...how great a debt we owe to those who went before us through the blood and sufferings of the Revolution.  And I am willing - perfectly willing - to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this government, and to pay that debt."

This Union soldier had courage and a sense of American patriotism that is quickly becoming extinct.  I hope that one day, all Americans can remember what our ancestors fought for, what they stood for and what ideals this country was founded on.
